From the shores of the Black Sea, to Isadora Duncan’s Moscow dance studio, to the Paris Conservatory where they met, to Carnegie Hall and to a memorable appearance with Arturo Toscanini, Twin Keys tells the incomparable musical love story of Pierre Luboshutz and Genia Nemenoff — the 20th century’s most famous duo-piano team. Presented by their grand-nephew, former Bay Chamber Artistic Director Thomas Wolf, this is the premiere of yet another of his popular narrated concert programs heard throughout the United States.
The remarkable story, told with humor and affection, is interspersed with musical selections from the Luboshutz & Nemenoff repertoire played by pianists Umi Garratt, who has recorded three highly praised solo albums, and International Steinway Piano Competition prizewinner, Jimmy Shen. The program features over 60 historical photographs. “While their careers took them to the most important musical capitals of the world, Pierre and Genia’s story would not be complete without highlighting their devotion to Rockport, Maine which today is their final resting place.” (Thomas Wolf)
