Meet the Composers: Songs for Judith & Tiny Bits of Outrageous Love
This free pre-performance talk features two composers whose original works will be played at Screen Door. Matthew Rickett, whose Songs for Judith will be featured in the closing concert, and Thomas Cabaniss, whose Tiny Bits of Outrageous Love (excerpts) will be a part of the Well-Being Concert, will discuss the pieces along with their lives and overall work.

Join us on the Green with The Westerlies, a boundary-breaking brass quartet known for their richly blended sound and adventurous programming.

Balourdet Quartet
The Balourdet Quartet bring their “absolute musical perfection.” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer) to this gorgeous program. Acclaimed for their technical precision and emotional depth, they offer the fresh artistic perspectives that earned the ensemble the Avery Fisher Career Grant, as well as Chamber Music America’s prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award.

Boyd Meets Girl
Back at Screen Door Festival by popular demand, Australian guitarist Rupert Boyd, and American cellist Laura Metcalf perform a repertoire ranging from Bach to Beyoncé. Both acclaimed soloists, Rupert has been described as "truly evocative" by The Washington Post, and Laura has been called "brilliant" by Gramophone.ard.

Mozart in the Morning: Part 3
Midway through our Mozart in the Morning series, we turn to one of the most intimate and illuminating forms in the Classical repertoire: the string quartet.

A Well-Being Concert
This Well-Being Concert is created in partnership with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. Find musical mindfulness and self-care in this Well-Being Concert with husband-and-wife piano duo, Michael and Jessica Shin who are joined by the inventive chamber musician, oboist James Austin Smith.

In This Short Life
In This Short Life is diverse, soulful, and deeply personal celebration of American sound through art song. Drawing inspiration from folk, cinematic music, gospel, jazz, and musical theater, the program incorporates the poetry of Harlem Renaissance poet Anne Spencer, Maya Angelou, Emily Dickinson, and folk texts.

Vuyo Sotashe & Chris Pattishall
In this acclaimed collaboration, South African vocalist Vuyo Sotashe and pianist/composer Chris Pattishall come together for an intimate and soulful evening of music.

Mozart in the Morning: Part 4
his session continues the exploration of Mozart’s chamber music. The Oboe Quartet in F Major, written for virtuoso oboist Friedrich Ramm, is a witty dialogue between winds and strings.

Contours
This concert explores expressive contour in three distinct musical languages, from Handel’s eloquence to Bacewicz’s intensity to Mendelssohn’s fire.

Palaver Strings: Dancing Home
The Portland-based, GRAMMY-nominated chamber orchestra Palaver Strings has distinguished itself with its spirit of curiosity and eagerness to collaborate across musical genres and traditions. Dancing Home explores themes of heritage, belonging, displacement, and resilience anchored by the rhythms of dance.

The Westerlies
The Westerlies’ bold sound has always defied category and expectation. With warmth, precision, and a sense of adventure, the New York based brass quartet performs original works and inventive arrangements that span genres and traditions.

Mozart in the Morning: Part 5
Our final morning brings the series to a joyful close, celebrating Mozart’s lifelong connection to the keyboard, the instrument with which he first astonished Europe and the one he always returned to.

Minetti Quartet: Haydn & Brahms
Named after a 1977 play by the Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard, this internationally acclaimed, Vienna-based ensemble was founded in 2003 and has steadily won admiration as one of the world’s leading string quartets.

Muddy Boots Series: Halcyon String Quartet
Come explore with us! Halcyon’s Muddy Boots concert for children is inspired by Munro Leaf’s beloved children’s book, The Story of Ferdinand.

Midday Music Series: Halcyon String Quartet
Well-known to Midcoast audiences from their many performances and educational work at Bay Chamber Music School, Halcyon is a string quartet and collective of socially engaged musicians. Their Midday Music performance is loosely inspired by the natural world.

Muddy Boots Series: Zachary Sweet, cello & Kerry Mizrahi, piano
Zachary Sweet and Kerry Mizrahi return for a Muddy Boots performance. This free, interactive experience offers children the freedom to move, dance, and sing at concerts created just for them. The pair will play pieces old and new, including works by Bach and Schumann. Join us for the second in this enlightening new series!

Distinguished cellist Zachary Sweet is establishing a reputation as a charismatic soloist, adventurous chamber musician, and champion of new music. Pianist Kerry Mizrahi has inspired audiences and students as an admired performer and teacher in the Ithaca, NY area.

Muddy Boots Series: Rasa String Quartet
A concert for children that combines quality live music with interaction, musical exploration, and fun. Featuring violinist Maura Shawn Scanlin, violinist Emma Powell, violist Kiyoshi Hayahsi, and cellist Mina Kim, children will be encouraged to sing, dance and ask questions.

Midday Music Series: Rasa String Quartet
Exploring the space where classical and folk traditions intersect and influence one another, Boston-based Rasa is winner of the 2022 Associazione Europea di Musica e Comunicazione International Chamber Music Competition and the 2020 Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition.

Pedja Mužijević, piano
From Haydn to George Crumb, pianist Pedja Mužijević offers concertgoers a veritable mixtape of composers old and new in this unique performance. This Bay Chamber favorite will take the audience on a musical tour of the 18th through the 21st centuries.

Bach for Breakfast, Part 4 - The Cello Suites
Our guide for the two Cello Suites sessions is Joshua Roman, a gifted cellist and composer who “combines the expressive control of Casals with the creative individuality and virtuoso flair of Hendrix himself.” (Gramophone)

Toomai String Quintet
Devoted to performing music from the classical and contemporary repertoire while exploring and arranging music from around the world, Toomai String Quintet won the 92nd St. Y’s Music Unlocked! Competition.

Quartet for the End of Time
In a prisoner-of-war camp during the early days of World War II, the French composer Olivier Messiaen created his chamber music masterpiece Quatuor pour la fin du temps (Quartet for the End of Time). Rooted in his deeply Christian faith, it is inspired by the New Testament Book of Revelation.

A Well-Being Concert
Find musical mindfulness and self-care in a Well-Being Concert with inspiring cellist Joshua Roman. The concert is hosted by Sarah Elizabeth Charles, a self-care advocate, vocalist, and composer based in New York City.
