Magos Herrera & Vinicius Gomes

  • Hammer Hall 5 Mountain Street Camden, ME 04843 United States (map)

Performers

MAGOS HERRERA, voice VINICIUS GOMES, guitar
VIANO QUARTET
BRIAN SHANKAR ADLER, percussion

With a sultry voice and an unparalleled presence in the contemporary Latin American jazz scene, Magos Herrera is hailed by Latin Jazz Network as “one of the greatest living interpreters of song.” Known for her bold, singular style—where contemporary jazz meets Ibero-American melodies and rhythms—her music moves fluidly across languages and traditions. “She gets way under the skin of the song, recalling great communicators like Edith Piaf or Billie Holiday” (NPR), and her twelve albums include collaborations with Brooklyn Rider, composer Paola Prestini, and producer Javier Limón.

She is joined by São Paulo-born guitarist Vinicius Gomes, whose playing draws on the harmonic richness of Brazilian music and the elasticity of jazz. With the addition of the acclaimed Viano String Quartet and percussionist Brian Shankar Adler, this concert invites you into a truly seductive global sound world, shaped by artists for whom different musical languages are part of their lived experience.

In a performance where Latin jazz, Brazilian rhythms, and classical strings converge, home is not a fixed border, but the resonant space where diverse cultures and backgrounds find a common heartbeat.
