BLAKE POULIOT, violin SIMONE PORTER, violin JANICE CARISSA, piano Guest artists to be announced
Described as “immaculate, at once refined and impassioned,” (ArtsAtlanta) violinist Blake Pouliot has the type of passion that enraptures audiences. He has established himself as “one of those special talents that comes along once in a lifetime” (Toronto Star). He is joined by fellow violinist Simone Porter, whose “utterly perfect technique allows her to take on passages of the most hair-raising difficulty,” (The Spokesman-Review) and pianist Janice Carissa, whose “strong, sure hands” (Voice of America) “convey a vivid story rather than a mere showpiece”. (Chicago Classical Review)
The program includes excerpts from Korngold’s Much Ado About Nothing Suite and Miklós Rózsa’s Sonata for Two Violins—music created by composers who moved between the concert hall and the world of film, carrying a distinctive European voice into a new cultural landscape. Ernst Bloch’s Nigun offers a more inward moment, its rhapsodic line drawing on traditions of song and spiritual expression.
The concert includes additional repertoire drawn from across styles and traditions. Experience the artistry of these exceptional musicians up close, sharing music they care about, in ways that feel direct, personal, and deeply engaging.
