Pedja Mužijević, piano: a mixtape for classical fans
“Every note Mužijevic played was engaging. The amount of joy he has in performing is absolutely palpable.” – Cultural Voice of North
From Haydn to George Crumb, pianist Pedja Mužijević offers concertgoers a veritable mixtape of composers old and new in this unique performance.
Thoughtful, insightful and a Bay Chamber favorite, Pedja will take the audience on a musical tour of the 18th through the 21st centuries, from classical chamber works to pieces with ties to rock and electronica.
The program ranges from theatrical works by Carl Philip Emanuel Bach and Joseph Haydn to the post-modern work of Valentyn Silvestrov to the sonic explorations of George Crumb and Henry Cowell. Other artists featured include György Ligeti, Philip Glass and Amy Beach.
Pedja has defined his career with creative programming, unusual combinations of new and old music, and lasting collaborations with artists and ensembles. He has played at Carnagie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, 92NY, The Frick Collection, Kennedy Center, and the National Gallery of Art. Pedja’s interdisciplinary projects include touring with Mikhail Baryshnikov and the White Oak Dance Project.
